Great Llwygy

The walk up Great Llwygy rewards you with proper panoramic views across Herefordshire and into Wales - it's one of those peaks where the effort genuinely pays off. From Hereford, you're looking at a decent hike through moorland and rough grazing to reach the summit, but the ridge walk itself is brilliant, especially on a clear day when you can see the Black Mountains rolling away to the west.

This is undeniably a walker's destination. You'll need proper boots and at least a couple of hours to do it justice, longer if you're combining it with nearby terrain. Families with older kids will manage fine, but little ones might struggle with the steepness and exposure in places. The views are genuinely worth the graft - no queue, no entrance fee, no nonsense.

If you're based at Goytree Glamping or Grove Farm Glamping - both just 2.7 miles away - this makes an excellent morning or afternoon excursion. It's the kind of walk that clears your head properly, especially after a night in a treehouse. The moorland landscape feels wild and empty in a way that rewards you for getting up there. Offas Dyke Retreat at 4.5 miles is also within striking distance if you fancy something more substantial.

Go when the weather's decent. You'll see nothing but cloud if you hit it on a grey day, and the paths get properly boggy after rain. Spring and autumn are your sweetest windows.
