Gorsedd Of Bards Circle

A ring of stones in a field near Haverfordwest that most visitors drive straight past without realising what they're looking at. The Gorsedd of Bards Circle marks the site where the National Eisteddfod was held in 1972, a massive Welsh cultural gathering that happens every year in a different location. It's essentially a ceremonial arena - the stones form a circle where bards and musicians were crowned, and it carries real significance for Welsh culture even if outsiders don't immediately feel the weight of it.

The appeal here depends entirely on what you're after. If you're into Welsh history or happen to know someone involved in the Eisteddfod, you'll find it genuinely moving. If you're just after a nice walk, it's serviceable but hardly thrilling - a quick circle round the stones takes ten minutes flat. The location itself is pleasant enough, rolling Pembrokeshire countryside, but there's no visitor centre or facilities to speak of.

It works as a brief stop if you're based at Three Fields Campsite or exploring the area around Haverfordwest, especially if you're already interested in Welsh heritage. Pair it with a proper walk in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park just down the road, or spend time at Broad Haven Holiday Park where you can at least combine it with coastal scenery. Go early morning or late afternoon when the light's better and you'll have the place to yourself. Worth fifteen minutes of your time if you're in the area, but don't expect much beyond the stones.
