Gors-las

A modest summit above Betws-y-Coed that rewards a proper leg-stretch without demanding full mountaineer commitment. Gors-las sits at 2,100 feet, offering genuinely good views across the Snowdonia valleys - on a clear day you're looking out towards Moel Siabod and the higher peaks beyond. The walk up is straightforward rather than spectacular, mostly through open moorland with patches of rough grass underfoot. Allow two to three hours for the round trip depending on your pace and how long you linger at the top.

This is solid walking country for families with older kids and anyone after a half-day outing that doesn't require technical ability. You'll meet fewer crowds here than on the major Snowdonia routes, which is reason enough to make the detour from Betws-y-Coed. The town itself is the obvious base - it's got shops, cafes, and easy access to other walks in the area. If you're staying at either Snowdonia Glamping Holidays or Porth Eryri Glamping, both just a few miles away, Gors-las works perfectly as a morning or afternoon objective without overcommitting your time.

Bring a waterproof even if the forecast looks promising - exposure matters up here when the wind picks up. The summit itself is relatively flat and uncluttered, giving you proper space to sit down and actually enjoy being there rather than immediately turning back. Not the showpiece walk of Snowdonia, but honest value for effort.
