Furnace Pond

A quiet water body just outside Tonbridge, Furnace Pond sits tucked away from the main roads - the sort of place locals know about but tourists often miss. It's a proper little lake, fed by a stream, surrounded by woodland that gets properly green in spring and summer. You can walk the perimeter easily enough, maybe forty minutes if you're not rushing, and the paths are well-trodden despite the lack of fanfare.

Fishing is the main draw here. The pond holds pike, perch and roach, so if you've got a rod and a licence, this is a decent spot. Non-anglers will find it pleasant enough for a ramble, but I'll be honest - it's not going to set your heart racing. There's a car park nearby and the access is straightforward, which means families with young kids can manage it without drama. Ducks and geese are usually about, so little ones stay entertained for twenty minutes or so.

Stay at one of the nearby camping spots - Tanner Farm Park is closest at 2.5 miles, Still Acres is 2.9 miles away - and you've got a workable afternoon outing, though it's better paired with other activities in the Tonbridge area rather than treated as a destination in itself. The woodland walk is gentle, the water's reflective on a calm day, and it's free to access. Good for a break from driving, less good if you're after drama.
