Foxfield Steam Railway

Steam billows across the platform as a vintage locomotive pulls into Caverswall Road station, and suddenly you're transported back to the golden age of rail travel. This volunteer-run railway operates along a 2.5-mile stretch of the former North Staffordshire Railway, connecting Caverswall Road with Dilhorne Park through proper Staffordshire countryside.

Families with young train enthusiasts will find this an absolute winner. The journey takes about 20 minutes each way, giving little ones plenty of time to soak up the authentic steam experience without getting restless. Real steam engines do the honours most weekends, though diesel occasionally steps in when the boiler needs attention.
