Flydays

Flydays sits just outside Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire, and it's one of those places that catches you off guard. The site itself is fairly low-key - an airfield where you can actually get up in a small aircraft and see West Wales from the air, which is properly brilliant if you've got the budget for it. The landscape from above looks completely different to how it reads from the ground: you spot the patchwork of fields, the coastline snaking away toward the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park five miles south, and on a clear day the views stretch right across the county.

It's not the sort of attraction you'd spend half a day at. Most flights run forty minutes to an hour, so factor in another thirty minutes for briefing and admin. Families with kids who aren't nervous about flying tend to love it - there's something magical about seeing your holiday park from the cockpit window. Adults who are serious about aviation, or just want an adrenaline hit, will get the most out of it. The claustrophobic or the genuinely fearful might find it stressful rather than fun.

Practical details are thin on the ground, so ring ahead before you go - opening hours vary seasonally and prices depend on flight length. If you're staying at Stargaze Glamping, Nolton Cross, or Brandy Brook nearby, it's a reasonable drive to the airfield and makes a proper talking point for the evening. Book a flight on a calm, clear day if you can - the views make all the difference.
