Elloughton URC Church

The red-brick United Reformed Church in Elloughton sits quietly on the main street of this small East Yorkshire village, about three miles south of Brough. It's the sort of place you'd walk past without thinking twice - unless you're actually interested in Victorian nonconformist architecture, in which case it's rather worth a proper look.

But if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks - Willow Pond is barely three miles away, Little Wold Away and William's Den not much further - and you've got an afternoon to kill or you're genuinely interested in Victorian religious life, it's worth the short drive from Brough. The village itself is quiet, which is either restful or dull depending on your mood.

The church likely isn't staffed or open at all hours, so check ahead if you specifically want to get inside. From outside, though, you can appreciate the building's lines and materials. History enthusiasts will find it interesting; families with young children will find it five minutes of peace before heading back to the caravan site.
