Eglwys St Beuno, Trefdraeth

You'll find this medieval church tucked into the village of Trefdraeth, a few miles south of Bodorgan on Anglesey's quieter side. Eglwys St Beuno is one of those proper Welsh churches that's been doing its thing for centuries - the kind of place where you can actually feel the weight of time rather than just read about it on a plaque.

Inside there's decent medieval stonework and the sort of atmosphere you only get in places that have been genuinely used for worship rather than preserved as museum pieces. It's free to visit and takes about twenty minutes to have a proper look around, though you might linger longer if the light's good and you enjoy sitting in quiet spaces.

Historically minded types will get the most from this one. It's not a showstopper attraction - no grand monuments or elaborate carvings - but it's absolutely worth a detour if you're staying at one of the caravan parks nearby. Y Fronydd is barely two miles away, making it perfect for a gentle morning walk or afternoon ramble. Penbryn and Mornest are also close enough for an easy drive.

Come when the weather's decent. There's no café or facilities on-site, so plan accordingly. It works best as part of a broader wander around Anglesey's lesser-known corners rather than as a standalone trip - pair it with a coastal walk or a visit to nearby villages and you'll get proper value from the time.
