Coed Carrog

Dark woodland paths wind through this small forest reserve just outside Bodorgan, offering a proper contrast to Anglesey's windswept coastline. The trees here are mainly coniferous, creating that lovely cathedral-like atmosphere where footsteps sound muffled and birdsong echoes differently. It's not vast - you can easily walk the main trails in under an hour - but there's something rather therapeutic about stepping into this green pocket after a morning on the beach.

Families with young children will find it manageable, though the paths can get muddy after rain so wellies are wise. Dog walkers seem to love it here, and you'll likely spot red squirrels if you're quiet enough. The forest doesn't have formal facilities or marked trails, so it feels more like genuine countryside exploring than a manicured attraction.

Staying at one of the nearby parks like Y Fronydd or Mornest, it's well worth the short drive for an afternoon wander. Particularly good on those grey days when the beach loses its appeal but you still want to stretch your legs outdoors. Not groundbreaking, but a decent woodland walk that adds variety to an Anglesey holiday without eating up half your day.
