Llyn Cefni Dam

The water sits nicely in the Anglesey landscape, and there's a decent circular walk that loops the perimeter if you're after a couple of hours on foot. Walkers will get the most out of this. Families with small children might find it a bit underwhelming unless they're really keen on spotting water birds.

It's free to visit and access appears unrestricted, though there are no facilities to speak of - bring your own refreshments. The walk is mostly flat, which suits older kids and anyone avoiding steep terrain. Spring and early summer are the best times when the light's good and you won't be battling midges.

If you're camping at Y Fronydd or Penbryn - both within a few miles of Bodorgan - this makes for a decent leg-stretcher on a caravan holiday.
