Art galleries don't usually get me excited, but Dual Form in Garstang is the sort of place that makes you stop mid-walk and actually think about what you're looking at. The gallery itself is intimate - nothing like walking round a massive institution. You can see everything in thirty minutes if you're not the type to linger, or a good hour if you actually engage with the pieces. It's free to visit, which removes any financial sting if it turns out not to be your cup of tea.

For families, it depends entirely on your kids. If they're old enough to appreciate abstract work without needing something interactive every five minutes, they might get something from it. Garstang itself is a proper Lancashire market town with decent pubs and cafes. If you're based at one of the nearby holiday parks - Crook O'Lune or Parkdean Resorts Ocean Edge are both close - it's worth popping into as an afternoon activity between walks or when the weather turns. Check ahead on opening times and current exhibitions though, as smaller galleries can be temperamental.
