Standing at 372 metres, this modest hill near Llandysul won't trouble serious peak baggers but delivers surprisingly good views across the Teifi Valley. The climb through mixed woodland and open moorland takes about 45 minutes from the nearest parking spot, following reasonably well-marked paths that can get muddy after rain.

Families with older children will find it manageable - though toddlers might struggle with the steeper sections near the summit. The reward is a proper panoramic view stretching from the Cambrian Mountains to the coast on clear days. Pack a flask because there's a lovely grassy plateau at the top that's perfect for a breather.

Walkers staying at nearby parks like Greenfields or Brownhill Holiday Park will appreciate having a decent hill walk on their doorstep without driving for hours. The footpaths connect with several longer circular routes if you fancy extending the adventure.

Best tackled in the morning when visibility tends to be clearer - afternoon haze can spoil those distant views. Allow two to three hours for the round trip including time at the summit. It's free to climb obviously, and you'll likely have it to yourself outside summer weekends. Worth combining with a visit to Llandysul's market town afterwards for a proper Welsh tea.
