Cruach Lusach

The walk up Cruach Lusach rewards you with views across Argyll's lochs and glens that make the effort genuinely worthwhile. It's not a massive peak - more of a proper hill than a mountain - but that's precisely why it works so well if you're based at Lochgilphead Caravan Park and fancy half a day out without committing to a full Munro bash.

You'll find the path straightforward enough, though it does get a bit steep in sections and the ground can be boggy depending on the weather. The climb takes most people between 90 minutes and two hours, depending on fitness and how often you stop to admire the panorama. On a clear day you're looking at Loch Fyne sprawling below and the hills rolling away toward the Cowal Peninsula. On a misty day it's atmospheric in that brooding Highland way.

This is walker territory pure and simple. Family groups with older kids will manage it fine, but younger children might find it tedious rather than thrilling. The summit itself is nothing fancy - a cairn and some rocks - but the views justify the walk. There's no visitor infrastructure up there, so bring water and something to eat.

Free to access and open year-round, though the path is best tackled between April and October when conditions are most reliable. It sits nicely within easy reach of Lochgilphead town, making it ideal if you want a proper walk without driving miles from your caravan. Combine it with the town's lochs and nearby woodland for a solid day outdoors.
