Computer Sheds Museum

The Computer Sheds Museum sits just outside Driffield and pulls together decades of computing history in a way that actually makes you want to linger. You're walking through sheds filled with machines from the 1960s onwards - proper vintage stuff, the kind of kit that once filled entire rooms and now looks impossibly chunky next to your smartphone.

It's genuinely engaging if you've got even a passing interest in how we got here technologically. The machines themselves tell the story better than any placard could - seeing a working BBC Micro or an early Apple setup reminds you how recent all this is. Kids who've grown up with tablets might find it eye-opening, though they could get restless if you're the type to read every label.

The museum isn't massive - you're looking at a couple of hours maximum, which actually works in its favour. It's the sort of place where you don't feel obliged to spend your whole day, but you might end up staying longer than you planned because someone's got a machine running.

If you're based at Seaways Glamping just up the road, it's a short drive for a lazy afternoon out. East End Farm Campsite is a bit further but still very doable. Neither are far from Driffield itself, so you could combine it with a proper walk around town or a pub lunch without much faffing about.
