Coetmor Church

The graveyard at Coetmor Church is what stops you in your tracks first. Medieval stone crosses and weathered headstones scattered across grass that slopes gently toward Conwy, and beyond that, a proper view toward the coast. The church itself - dedicated to St Mary - is small, intimate, and genuinely old, though exactly how old depends on which bit you're looking at. The current building has 15th-century bones, though there's older work buried in the walls if you know where to look.

What makes it worth the drive from Bangor is the location. It sits removed from any town centre, which means it's quiet in a way that feels deliberate rather than accidental. You get the sense that people have worshipped here for centuries without much fuss or fanfare, and the church hasn't been modernised into blandness. History types will appreciate the architecture; walkers will like the position on the hill. Families with young children might find it a bit austere - there's not much to hold attention for longer than twenty minutes - but if you're combining it with a stay at Three Streams Glamping nearby, it's easily folded into a morning walk around the area.
