The woodland around Coed Tyddyn Badyn offers proper shelter if you're camping nearby in the Llanberis or Bangor area - which matters more than you'd think when the Welsh weather turns. This ancient woodland sits just outside Bangor, making it an easy morning walk for anyone staying at Ogwen Bank or Llanberis Touring Park rather than a destination in itself.

It's the kind of place locals know but visitors often miss. The trees are dense enough to feel remote, paths wind through without too much fuss, and there's a genuine sense of stepping back into something old. No crowds, no visitor centre, no admission charge - just woodland doing what Welsh woodland does best. Kids who like exploring will get an hour or so out of it, though don't expect dramatic viewpoints or anything spectacular.

Walkers benefit most here. It fits nicely between longer Snowdonia hikes - perhaps after tackling something bigger, you'd spend an afternoon wandering these quieter paths as a cooldown. The woodland itself isn't dramatic enough to warrant a special trip from further afield, but if you're based at Riverside Camping or Glamping in Llanberis and the weather's decent, it's absolutely worth an hour of your morning.
