Coed Siambr Groes

A proper woodland walk tucked just outside Conwy, Coed Siambr Groes is the sort of place locals know about but tourists often miss. The forest isn't enormous - you can work your way through the main trails in an afternoon - but it's genuinely peaceful, with decent native woodland and clear paths that don't demand navigation skills.

The walking here suits families with kids aged six and up. Paths are manageable rather than technical, though they can get muddy after rain, so waterproofs worth considering. Most people spend anything from ninety minutes to three hours here depending on how many side routes they fancy. Free to access, which is always a bonus.

What you get is proper North Wales woodland atmosphere without the crowds you'd find at bigger attractions. It's the kind of place where you can actually hear birdsong. Close enough to Conwy town centre - literally half a mile or so - that you could pair it with a morning exploring the castle or town walls, then head out here for the afternoon.

If you're staying at Wern Farm Caravan Park or Cefn Cae Campsite nearby, this becomes a no-brainer for a post-breakfast stroll. Even Erw Glas Glamping and Camping, just two miles away, makes it an easy detour. Worth noting: bring a packed lunch if you're planning the longer route. There's nowhere to grab food once you're in the trees.
