Coed Bedw

The forest at Coed Bedw sits just outside Conwy and feels properly tucked away despite being close to town. It's a working woodland rather than some manicured attraction, with trails that wind through birch and mixed broadleaf without much fanfare. You'll find yourself on straightforward walking paths - nothing too demanding, but genuine enough that you feel like you're actually in a forest rather than a park with trees.

It's the sort of place that works best for walkers who want fresh air without a specific destination, or families with children old enough to manage uneven ground. History types might enjoy it less unless they're keen on woodland ecology itself. Allow an hour or so to have a proper wander, longer if you're the type to stop and notice things.

The real value is proximity. If you're staying at Waenfechan Glamping & Camping or Maenan Abbey Caravan Park - both genuinely excellent spots - Coed Bedw becomes an easy morning walk rather than a day trip. It's the sort of forest you combine with other things: a walk here, then lunch in Conwy town, then something else. On its own for a full afternoon? Probably not unless you're after quiet green space specifically.

Free access as far as I can tell, though do check locally. Best visited when it's not raining heavily - the paths get muddy, and there's little shelter.
