Clogwyn Llechwedd-Llo

Rough slate and windswept grass mark the summit of this modest Snowdonian peak that sits quietly between the more famous neighbours. At 622 metres, Clogwyn Llechwedd-Llo won't trouble serious mountaineers, but it delivers proper mountain views without the crowds that plague Snowdon itself.

Walkers with a decent fitness level will find the ascent rewarding rather than punishing. The path winds through typical Welsh mountain terrain - bracken, scattered boulders, and the odd rowan tree clinging to rocky outcrops. From the top, you'll get cracking views across to Caernarfon and the Menai Strait, with Anglesey spread out beyond on clear days.

This isn't a peak for beginners or families with small children. The terrain can be boggy in places, and Welsh weather changes fast up here. Allow three to four hours for the round trip, and pack proper walking gear regardless of how sunny it looks from your holiday park.

Serious walkers staying at sites like Bryn Gloch Caravan & Camping Park or Llanberis Touring Park will appreciate having a less trampled summit within easy reach. It's particularly good for those wanting to escape the Snowdon circus while still getting their mountain fix. Come early morning or late afternoon for the best light and fewer people.
