Clement's Dale Wood

Dense canopy closes overhead as you follow the winding paths through this surprisingly extensive woodland, just minutes from Narberth. Clement's Dale Wood feels properly wild - the sort of place where kids can build dens and adults can actually lose themselves for an hour or two.

Families staying at nearby parks like Bluestone Resort or Folly Farm Holiday Park will find this a lovely contrast to the manicured attractions. The walking here isn't challenging, but it's proper woodland rambling with fallen logs to clamber over and streams to follow. My seven-year-old spent ages hunting for wildlife while I enjoyed the peace.

What strikes you most is how quiet it gets once you're away from the road. This isn't one of those woods where you can hear traffic throughout - venture deeper and you'll find proper tranquillity. The paths aren't waymarked, which adds to the sense of adventure but means you'll want to keep your bearings.

Allow a good hour for a proper explore, though younger children might need coaxing after thirty minutes if they're not the outdoorsy type. Free to wander as far as I could tell, and accessible year-round. It's the sort of place that works brilliantly as a morning activity before heading to one of the area's busier family attractions.
