Chapel of Our Lady & St. Non

You're standing at the clifftop remains of a medieval chapel dedicated to the mother of St. David - one of Wales' most venerated saints. The Chapel of Our Lady & St. Non sits on the edge of Pembrokeshire's dramatic coastline near Haverfordwest, overlooking the sea where legend says St. Non herself gave birth to David during a storm. What you actually see are the stone foundations and lower walls of the original 12th-century structure, rebuilt several times over the centuries. It's a short, fairly easy walk from the car park to reach it - maybe 10 minutes on the level.

Historically minded visitors will find genuine appeal here. The site has genuine medieval bones, and the views across the bay make it worth the visit even if you're not particularly bothered about the religious significance. The place does draw pilgrims, particularly around St. David's Day, but outside peak season you might have it entirely to yourself.

Families with younger kids should manage fine - it's not a sprawling site, so there's no risk of endless wandering. Walkers tackling the Pembrokeshire Coast Path will naturally pass through here. The nearby Pembrokeshire Meadows Camping, just 0.6 miles away, makes a sensible base if you're doing a few days along this stretch of coast. Admission appears free, which is just as well given the modest remains. Allow about an hour if you're properly exploring the area and taking in the clifftop views. Go on a clear day - the outlook across St. Brides Bay is genuinely worth seeing, and poor weather just makes a small ruin feel smaller.
