Central Library

Lee-on-the-Solent's Central Library is the sort of place you'd walk past on the high street without thinking twice - until you actually step inside. It's a proper working library, not some grand Victorian monument, but it does what it does well: decent selection of books, computers available, and the kind of quiet reading space that's increasingly hard to find in coastal towns.

The space works best for people who actually want to use a library rather than just visit one. If you're staying nearby at Kingfisher Caravan Park or Hayling Island Holiday Park and you've got a rainy afternoon, it's useful enough. Kids can browse the children's section, adults can settle in with a book or handle any digital needs. The staff are genuinely helpful without being intrusive.

Admission is free, and opening hours run fairly standard - best to arrive mid-week when it's less crowded. You won't need more than an hour unless you're seriously browsing. Saturday mornings are workable but close at half three, which catches people out.

Honestly, it's not a destination attraction. You're not dragging yourself here instead of going to the seafront or a proper park nearby like Mill Rythe Coastal Village. But if you're based at one of the holiday parks for a week and the weather turns, it's a solid fallback - and genuinely better than being stuck at your caravan.
