H.M.S Aboukir Memorial

Three naval disasters in a single hour changed the course of the First World War. This modest granite memorial on Lee-on-the-Solent seafront remembers HMS Aboukir, HMS Cressy and HMS Hogue - three Royal Navy cruisers sunk by a single German submarine on 22 September 1914. Over 1,400 sailors died that morning.
