Bryn Euryn

The walk up Bryn Euryn from Betws-y-Coed takes the best part of an hour, but the views across the Conwy Valley are genuinely worth the effort. It's not a difficult climb - more steady than steep - and the path is well-trodden enough that you won't lose your way. From the top, you get proper 360-degree views: the Snowdonia peaks to the south, the Vale of Conwy spreading out beneath you, and on a clear day the coast feels within touching distance.

This is cracking terrain for walkers and anyone who likes a proper hillside wander. Kids aged ten and up will manage it fine, though younger ones might find the last stretch tedious. The summit itself is modest - no café, no facilities - just a cairn and the satisfaction of having earned the view. Allow a couple of hours to get up, have a look around, and come back down without rushing.

If you're based at one of the glamping sites nearby - Snowdonia Glamping Holidays or Porth Eryri Glamping are both excellent - this makes a superb morning or early afternoon outing. Betws-y-Coed itself is ten minutes away by car, so you've got cafés and a village to explore afterwards. Go on a clear day if you possibly can. Mist rolls in from nowhere in these valleys, and when it does, you're just walking through cloud.
