Bryn Euryn

Limestone cliffs drop away beneath your feet as you reach the summit of this modest but rewarding hill just outside Llandudno. Bryn Euryn might only reach 162 metres, but what it lacks in height it makes up for with properly spectacular views across the Conwy valley and out to sea.

Walkers will find the climb steep but manageable - allow about 45 minutes each way from the car park. The path winds through ancient woodland before emerging onto open grassland near the top. Kids might grumble about the uphill slog, but the rocky outcrops and cave systems scattered around the summit usually win them over.

History buffs should know this hill has been significant for centuries. Iron Age fortifications crown the peak, and you can still make out the earthwork remains if you know where to look. The views alone justify the effort though - Snowdonia stretches away to the south while the Great Orme dominates the coastal panorama.

Families staying at nearby parks like Dinarth Hall or Tan Y Bryn Glamping will find this makes an excellent morning expedition. The hill is free to explore and accessible year-round, though proper walking boots are essential given the rocky terrain. Come early to avoid the crowds and catch the best light for photos.
