It's not dramatic - no jagged peaks or vertiginous drops - but it's the kind of place where you genuinely feel removed from things after twenty minutes on foot.

The hill itself is manageable. Walkers and families after an afternoon out will find it straightforward enough without being dull, and the views from the top stretch far enough to make the effort feel worthwhile. The surrounding Charnwood Forest landscape gives everything a pleasant, undulating character. On a clear day you can get a real sense of the terrain spreading out below.

There's something genuinely useful about having Broombriggs as an option when you're based at one of the nearby parks - Bradgate Park sits just 2.7 miles away and is the obvious pairing. You could tackle both in a single day without overcommitting. Charnwood Acres Caravan Park and the other sites clustered within five miles make this a natural addition to a holiday itinerary rather than a special diversion.

Bring proper walking boots if the ground's been wet. The exposure isn't dramatic but muddy patches can catch you out. Allow an hour or so depending on fitness and whether you're stopping for photos. It works best as a morning walk when light's best for those views, then head back for lunch. Peak season brings more company, but even then it doesn't feel rammed.
