Children under ten might find it underwhelming unless you've got them properly interested in archaeology.

It's free and accessible year-round, though winter mud can make the approach boggy. If you're camping at Foot of the Downs or Downsview Park - both less than two miles away - this makes a straightforward morning detour before heading into Henfield for lunch. Don't expect facilities; bring water and dress for the weather. Worth the short walk if you're in the area and keen on prehistoric sites, but don't drive out specially from Brighton.
