Water levels vary dramatically here depending on recent rainfall, so what you'll find ranges from a proper lake to little more than boggy marshland. Located on the Gower Peninsula between Rhossili and Oxwich, this freshwater body sits in a natural depression that's been quietly doing its thing for centuries.

Birdwatchers get the best deal here. The reeds and surrounding grassland attract a decent variety of species, particularly during migration periods. Bring binoculars if you're serious about it. The walk around takes about twenty minutes when the water's up, less when it's down to puddles.

Families might find it a bit underwhelming unless the kids are into wildlife spotting. There's no formal path and the ground can get proper muddy after rain. Dog walkers seem to rate it though - plenty of space for a good run about.

From the nearby holiday parks around Oxwich and Port Eynon, it makes for a reasonable morning detour if you're exploring the Gower's quieter corners. Not exactly a destination in itself, but worth a look if you're already heading towards Rhossili Down or the beaches. Best combined with other Gower attractions rather than making a special trip.
