Birkwith Wood

You'll find Birkwith Wood just outside Carnforth, a proper Yorkshire woodland that rewards a decent walk but doesn't demand fell-climbing fitness. The beech and oak trees here are genuinely impressive - the sort of place where light filters through in that particular way that makes you understand why people get sentimental about ancient woodland.
