Beinn Bhreac

Standing at 632 metres, this unassuming peak near Dunoon offers views that'll make your legs forgive the climb. Beinn Bhreac translates to 'speckled hill' - apt, given the patches of heather and bracken that mottle its slopes. The summit rewards proper hill walkers with panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde and the scattered islands beyond.

Getting to the top takes around two hours from the nearest parking spot, following rough tracks that can be boggy after rain. Experienced walkers will find it a decent workout without the technical challenges of Scotland's bigger peaks. Families with teenagers might tackle it, but younger children will struggle with the distance and terrain.

The mountain sits in the Argyll Forest Park, making it a solid choice if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Inverbeg or Forest Holidays Ardgartan. Loch Eck Caravan Park sits particularly close, giving you easy access to several walking routes in the area.
