About Beinn Mhor
What you get is a 360-degree view that takes in the Cowal peninsula, Loch Eck far below, and on a clear day, the islands beyond. Weather here changes fast, so start early and check conditions before heading out. Walkers will get the most from this one - the terrain is rough underfoot in places and there's genuine scrambling near the top.
If you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks - Loch Eck is closest at 2.5 miles - this makes a brilliant half-day expedition that gets you away from the site without needing to drive hours. Stratheck Holiday Park sits just 3.5 miles away and would work equally well as a base. The walk is free, obviously, and there's no visitor infrastructure at the summit, so bring water and something to eat.
Best visited between May and September when you've got longer daylight and the higher chance of clear skies. Midges can be fierce in July and August if there's no breeze, which there often isn't on the lower sections. Go when the weather's settled rather than straight after rain.
