Ashley Coppice delivers exactly what you'd expect from ancient English woodland - towering oaks, carpets of bluebells in spring, and enough winding paths to lose yourself for a good hour or two.

Families with energetic kids will find plenty to explore here, though the terrain can get muddy after rain so wellies are a wise choice. The lack of formal facilities means it's very much a natural experience - no visitor centre or marked trails, just you and the trees. Dog walkers particularly rate this spot for the freedom it offers.

Spring visits reward you with spectacular bluebell displays, while autumn brings that classic golden canopy. It's free to wander, though parking might be limited roadside. Allow at least an hour if you're having a proper explore, longer if the children want to build dens or collect conkers.
