The forest around Llangammarch Wells is proper Mid Wales terrain - rolling valleys, proper old-growth woodland, and the kind of quiet that makes you remember why you came. This suits walkers far more than families wanting an easy stroll. Terrain can be boggy, especially after rain, and there's no obvious loop walks or signage you'd call comprehensive. Bring decent boots. Allow two to three hours if you're exploring properly rather than just grabbing a quick circuit.

Stay at Irfon River Caravan & Camping Park just down the valley - you're basically already in it - or base yourself at one of the higher-rated Riverside or Celtic Woodland sites and do proper day walks from here. The forest connects with the broader network of Mid Wales valleys, so you're not confined to one spot. The real charm is in the walking itself, not any single viewpoint.
