You'll need to do a bit of detective work to find this one - there's precious little signposting, and the locals in Llangammarch Wells aren't exactly marketing it as their crown jewel. But that's rather the point. This is proper forest, the kind where you can actually hear yourself think, with dense woodland that feels genuinely remote despite being within striking distance of the small spa town.

What you get is a straightforward walk through mature trees, some decent paths if you know where you're going, and the kind of quiet that resets your head after a week in the office. It's not dramatically scenic - no mountain views or dramatic waterfalls - but it's absolutely the real thing. Woodland types, serious walkers, and anyone wanting to escape the caravan park bubble for a few hours will find it worthwhile. Families with young kids might struggle unless they're the outdoorsy sort; there's not much to hold attention beyond the trees themselves.

Allow two to three hours depending on which route you pick. Free to access, and you can park reasonably near the entrance. Early morning or late afternoon is when it feels most atmospheric. If you're staying at Irfon River or Riverside - both excellent spots just down the road - this makes a natural half-day excursion. Beats another loop around the caravan park shop.
