Llanrhystud sits quietly between Aberystwyth to the north and Cardigan to the south, making it a proper base for exploring Wales' dramatic western edge. The village itself won't detain you long, but that's rather the point. Come here for the landscape, not the attractions.

Walk the coastal path and you'll understand why this bit of Cardigan Bay feels so special. Seals bob offshore while red kites circle above farmland that runs right to the cliff edge. The beach stretches for miles when the tide's out - perfect for clearing your head after too much time in busy places.

Getting here means driving the A487, which winds through some of Wales' most beautiful countryside. Aberystwyth, just 15 miles north, has the nearest railway station if you're coming by train. But honestly, you'll want a car to make the most of this area.

Staying at one of the local caravan parks makes perfect sense here. Places like Morfa Farm Caravan Park and Aeron Coast Caravan Park put you right in the thick of this working landscape, where farming and tourism rub along quite happily. Wake up to views of fields rolling down to the sea, then spend your days exploring a coastline that tourism hasn't quite discovered yet. Well, not in the way it has further south.
