Medieval merchants once sailed up The Wash to trade in what was England's third-largest port after London and Bristol. The surrounding area feels genuinely rural despite being well-connected, with forests like Mother Rumbles and Anmer Field Covert providing proper countryside within easy reach. Staying at one of the nearby parks makes perfect sense - you're close enough for evening pints in King's Lynn's historic pubs, yet wake up surrounded by Norfolk's trademark big skies and ancient woodlands.
