Dog walkers absolutely love this spot, with plenty of space for energetic pets to explore safely off-lead in the deeper sections. The sandy soil means it drains well, so even after Norfolk's frequent showers, you won't be squelching through mud.

Allow about an hour for a gentle wander, though keen walkers could easily spend a morning exploring the various trails that branch off the main paths. It's free to access, as you'd expect from Norfolk forestry, and there's usually decent parking nearby.

This makes a cracking complement to a stay at one of the nearby holiday parks - Sandringham Camping and Caravanning Club Site is barely three miles away, while Parkdean's Heacham Beach park offers a proper contrast between woodland walks and seaside fun. Worth the short drive from your base for a peaceful break from beach crowds.
