Down at The Warren, wild chalk cliffs tumble into the sea creating one of Kent's most dramatic coastal walks. It's proper untamed countryside just minutes from the town centre. The Silver Screen Cinema keeps the cultural scene ticking over, though you'll need to check what's on - it's one of those lovely independent venues that doesn't always follow the multiplex schedule.

Folkestone's art credentials are seriously impressive these days. The Stables and Spitfire galleries showcase local talent, while quirky spots like Folkestone Lightbulb and Rod Bere's Art Studio prove there's real creative energy here. The Battle of Britain Memorial reminds you of the area's wartime significance - this stretch of coast has seen plenty of history.

Getting here couldn't be easier. The M20 runs straight to town, and you're only an hour from London on the high-speed rail link. Dover's just 8 miles east if you fancy exploring more of the White Cliffs country, while Canterbury's 18 miles inland.

Staying at one of the nearby holiday parks makes perfect sense for exploring both Folkestone and the wider area. You've got the coast on your doorstep, easy access to Dover Castle, and you're well placed for day trips into the Kent countryside. Black Horse Farm and Hawthorn Farm put you right in walking distance of the town, while Kingsdown Camping gets you closer to those spectacular clifftop views.
