Driffield

Market day brings this East Yorkshire town to life with proper Yorkshire grit. Driffield has always been about agriculture - it's the unofficial capital of the Wolds, where rolling chalk hills meet working farmland. The town centre might not win any beauty contests, but it's got character and serves the surrounding countryside well.

St Andrews Church anchors the old part of town, worth a look for its medieval stonework. Beyond that, Driffield works best as your base camp for exploring the Yorkshire Wolds Way and the coast that's just twenty minutes east. The Wolds themselves are criminally underrated - gentle hills perfect for walking, with big skies and views that stretch for miles.

Crow Wood offers decent walks if you fancy staying local, though the real draw is being so close to both the Wolds and the Holderness coast. Bridlington's proper seaside fun is a short drive, while Beverley's minster and Georgian streets make for a lovely day out to the south.

Getting here is straightforward enough - the A614 runs right through town, connecting you to the M62 and the wider road network. Hull's about forty minutes away if you need a proper city fix. The railway line to Bridlington still runs, though services aren't frequent.

Staying at one of the holiday parks dotted around makes perfect sense. You're positioned between the Wolds and the coast, with easy access to both. Plus, after a day tramping the hills or battling Bridlington's crowds, returning to your caravan beats hunting for town centre accommodation that frankly doesn't exist.
