If you're basing yourself at one of the nearby parks - Hideaway Wood Farm with the alpacas makes sense for families, or Steepleton Lodge if glamping appeals - Waydale Hill works as a half-morning outing. Pair it with a proper pub lunch back in Northampton rather than treating it as a full day activity. The nearby Whitehall Farm CL is CAMC members only, so check before booking if that's your setup.

Best visited when the fields are green rather than muddy - spring through early autumn really. The summit itself is modest, no shelter or facilities, so bring a flask and maybe a packed snack. Worth the detour if you're holiday-park based in the area and want a leg-stretch with a view, but don't rearrange your trip around it.
