Warren Hill

The walk up Warren Hill takes you out of Swansea proper and into proper countryside within minutes. It's a modest peak by any standard, but that's rather the point - you're after views across Swansea Bay and the Gower Peninsula without the slog of something more serious.

There's a decent footpath most of the way, though it gets a bit rougher near the summit. Allow forty minutes to an hour from the car park, depending on fitness and how often you stop to look back at the city sprawling below. The top isn't dramatic - no stone cairn or trig point, just a clearing where the view opens out properly. Clear days reward you with sight lines stretching towards Tenby; murky ones feel a touch anticlimactic.

It's ideal for families who want a proper walk without commitment, or for anyone staying at Riverside Holiday Park, Swansea Marina Tourer Park, or SWDA Riverside - all within four miles - looking to stretch the legs between pitches. Dog walkers love it. History buffs less so; there's nothing particular up there, just land.

Free to visit, naturally. Go midweek if you can; weekends draw Swansea locals keen for the same idea. The winter months offer clearer sight lines, though the wind can be bracing. Summer's busier but friendlier for inexperienced walkers. Combine it with a coastal walk around the Gower if you're making a proper day of it.
