It's best for serious nature enthusiasts rather than casual strollers. Bring binoculars. The paths wind through the reserve giving decent vantage points over the water, though they can get boggy after rain. Allow a couple of hours if you're really into it; thirty minutes if you just fancy a quick walk and a look. The light's best in early morning for both photography and spotting wildlife.

What works well is combining this with the nearby holiday parks - Riverside Holiday Park and Swansea Marina Tourer Park are barely two miles away, so it's an easy morning outing before heading into the city proper. Not everyone will find a wetland reserve thrilling, to be honest. If your crew needs drama or Instagram moments, look elsewhere. But if someone in your group genuinely cares about birds and plants, this justifies a stop. Swansea itself has plenty to keep everyone else occupied while the nature lovers are glued to their scopes.
