WAP

The converted warehouse on the edge of Bungay holds work that actually stops you in your tracks. WAP is a proper gallery space - the kind where you can spend twenty minutes with a single piece or dash through in an afternoon, depending on what's on. The industrial bones of the building are half the appeal: exposed brick, high ceilings, that satisfying echo of footsteps on concrete floors. Exhibitions rotate, so what's hanging when you visit could be anything from sculpture to photography to installations that make you think differently about the space itself.

This isn't a place for passive viewing. The gallery attracts artists and makers who want to push things, so expect work with teeth. Parents with younger kids might find it a bit uneven - some shows will grip them, others won't. But if you've got teenagers interested in contemporary art, or you're the type who reads the wall notes and actually thinks about them, you'll find something worth the trip.

Bungay itself is tiny, so WAP rewards visitors already in the area rather than those making a special journey just for the gallery. But if you're based at Wardley Hill Campsite just down the road, or glamping at Dawn Chorus Holidays on the working farm a couple of miles out, it's a solid option for an hour or two when the weather turns. Check ahead for what's on and opening times - the gallery keeps its own schedule. Free entry is common but not guaranteed, so ring first.
