The Dog Walking Field - Bungay

The Dog Walking Field lives up to its name - it's simply a proper open space on the edge of Bungay where locals take their dogs for a run about. Nothing fancy, no visitor centre, no admission fee. Just a field with good open ground and enough room for dogs to have a decent stretch without worrying about sheep or livestock.

This is absolutely the spot if you're staying at one of the nearby campsites - Dawn Chorus Holidays or Wardley Hill are within walking distance - and you've got a dog in tow. Your hound will love it far more than you probably will. It takes fifteen minutes max, so don't expect to build a half-day around it. The appeal is purely practical: there's space, it's accessible, and the ground drains reasonably well even after rain.

Non-dog owners, honestly, won't find much here. It's a field. A green one. Fine if you're passing, but not a reason to detour. The real draw is how well it slots into a Norfolk camping holiday where the dog is part of the crew. Pop the kettle on at your glamping safari tent or caravan pitch at one of the nearby sites, walk the field for twenty minutes, back for breakfast.

Bungay itself - a proper little market town with the River Waveney running through it - offers more substance if you need an afternoon out. But for what it is, the field does the job. Free, accessible, and your dog will be knackered afterwards. What more do you need?
