Viewing Platform

The viewing platform sits high enough that you can genuinely see across Bodmin Moor on a clear day - and there are precious few of those, so plan accordingly. It's a straightforward spot: a built structure that does exactly what it says, nothing fancy, just a decent vantage point over the moorland that rolls out below. The walk up isn't brutal, though it's not a gentle stroll either if you're after one of those.

This works best for anyone who actually enjoys moorland walks and wants a proper reason to be out there. Families with younger kids might find the novelty wears thin after twenty minutes unless the weather is exceptional. Photographers will spend longer than most, especially if clouds are moving fast enough to create decent light and shadow across the landscape. It's the sort of place walkers circle back to when they're in the area doing longer routes across the moor.

Free to use, as far as these things go. Allow an hour or so if you're making a trip of it, longer if you're keen on photography or you're combining it with other moorland walking. The platform works best on crisp autumn days or clear mornings before the usual Cornish mist rolls in. If you're staying at Rosebud Farm or Camp De Lank, both very close by, you could knock this out as part of a bigger day exploring Bodmin Moor itself. Worth doing once if you're in the area, though don't expect it to blow your mind on a grey afternoon.
