Upper Water sits quietly in the Worcestershire countryside, a modest lake that does what it says on the tin without any fuss. The water itself is calm and reflective, surrounded by rough grassland and tree lines that shift through the seasons - decent for a walk round if you've got an hour to spare, though it's not the sort of destination you'd drag relatives across the country to see.

Walkers get the most from it, frankly. The lakeside paths are straightforward enough, and on a quiet day you might genuinely appreciate the lack of crowds. Families with younger kids might find an hour enough before they want something with a bit more going on. Bird watchers occasionally pitch up here too, though you're not looking at anything particularly rare.

It's free to visit and accessible year-round, though winter mornings when the grass is frosted have a particular appeal if you don't mind the cold. Allow 45 minutes to an hour for a proper circuit. From Chipping Campden - just a few miles away - it slots nicely into a Cotswolds break, especially if you're based at Campden Yurts or one of the glamping spots dotted around Moreton-in-Marsh. Combine it with a village walk or a pub lunch and you've got a proper afternoon sorted. On its own, though, it's a pleasant filler rather than a reason to pick this corner of the map.
