The seafront at Tywyn has a proper old-school amusement park feel that's distinctly Welsh - nothing slick, everything honest. Tywyn Leisure Park sits right where the promenade meets the rides, and it's the sort of place where kids will spend an afternoon on bumper cars, dodgems, and the kind of arcade games that still take pound coins. The park itself is modest, which is exactly the point. You're not getting a day-long theme park experience here; instead, you get an hour or two of straightforward fun without the crowds or the three-quid-a-go nightmare of the big corporate parks down south.

The real draw is how it slots into a proper Cardigan Bay break. If you're based at Gwynedd Holiday Home Park just down the road, or Cae Du Campsite a couple of miles inland, you can pop over for a quick fix of seaside amusement without much faffing about. The seafront walk before or after is lovely - Tywyn's got a genuine promenade rather than the flat concrete of some Welsh resorts. Families with under-tens will get the most out of it; older kids might find it a bit limited after twenty minutes. Bring cash, expect seasonal opening hours (it's the Welsh coast, after all), and don't expect frills. What you get is exactly what you see - and that's rather refreshing.
