Corlan Fraith

The walk up Corlan Fraith isn't long, but it's steep enough to earn the views. This peak sits above Tywyn in Ceredigion, and on a clear day you get proper views across the Cardigan Bay coastline - the kind that make you forget how much your calves are burning. The summit itself is more working landscape than dramatic ridge: moorland and rough grass, with the sea spreading out below. Nothing flashy, but real.

Walkers will find this worthwhile if they're already in the area. It's the sort of hill you'd tackle as part of a longer day rather than make a special trip for, and most people will spend an hour on it including the climb. Families with older kids who don't mind a bit of graft will get through it fine. Younger children might struggle with the gradient, though determined ones will make it.

The real appeal is how this fits into exploring the Ceredigion coast itself. You're close enough to Tywyn that you could base yourself at one of the local parks - Cambrian Coast Holiday Park is about five miles out, or Searivers Caravan Park if you want something smaller - and use this as a morning walk before heading down to the beach. The landscape here feels quieter than the busier coastal spots further south. Bring decent shoes, go when the weather's settled, and don't expect anything other than a straightforward hill walk with a payoff at the top.
