Treveal Cove viewpoint

The walk down to Treveal Cove takes you through proper coastal scrub before the path opens out onto a horseshoe of golden sand backed by towering cliffs. It's one of those Cornish viewpoints where the light does strange things in the afternoon - the water turns almost turquoise, and you start to understand why people moved here centuries ago and never left.

There's nothing built here, which is precisely the point. Just a viewing area where you can stand and look at the beach far below, watch the waves come in, maybe spot a kayaker if you're lucky. The cliffs are dramatic without being show-offy about it. On a clear day you can see for miles along the coast.

Walkers will find this well worth the effort - the path is manageable and takes about ten minutes from the car area near Trendrine. It's not a challenging walk, but it's not a stroll either. Families with younger kids might find the viewpoint itself enough; the beach below looks inviting but isn't easily accessible from here. Photography types will be busy for a good hour catching the light, especially in late afternoon.

If you're staying at Polmanter Touring Park just down the road, this makes a cracking addition to a morning's exploring. It pairs well with a proper beach day at one of the more accessible coves nearby. No facilities at the viewpoint itself, so bring what you need. Best visited when the weather's settled - windy days here can be bracing.
