Trelissick Garden (detached)

The drive down to Trelissick from Truro winds through proper Cornish countryside before opening suddenly onto a sloping garden that commands the Fal estuary like it owns the place. You're looking at 255 acres of grounds designed to feel both deliberately planted and genuinely wild - woodland walks, open parkland, and borders that someone has clearly spent decades fussing over. The house itself sits at the top, but most visitors skip straight to the gardens and the views across to Falmouth.

It's the sort of place that works brilliantly if you're the type who likes a decent ramble combined with something beautiful to look at. Families will manage fine for a couple of hours; walkers could easily spend half a day here without feeling rushed. There's also a working kitchen garden and a café, so you can justify settling in properly. The woodland paths are gentle enough for most fitness levels, though there are proper slopes if you fancy the full estate.

Trelissick sits close enough to both Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite and Trethem Mill Touring Park that you could easily combine this with other gardens in the area - the Fal Valley has decent concentration of them. Spring and early summer are obvious choices, but honestly the autumn colours here are worth the trip alone.
